The News

Well, my Husband is now aboard his Ship and will soon be transiting the Welland Canal on his way to Thunderbay, Ontario.  He has been gone for two days and I miss him already.  While I sit here at the breakfast bar waiting for our Granddaughter to wake up the house is almost echoing with silence.  The first week is the hardest or at least I've found, it takes awhile to get back into the routine of doing everything yourself again.  Our backgammon game sits silently waiting for those few final games will play of the season to close off our Championship match of the year. Ha!
Last night before I went to bed Anders gave him his last trips or trip. When he read the two destinations off I thought , NICE he'll be home soon but then thought about WHERE those destinations were and how long it takes to get to them and then of course there is Weather...so he summed it up by saying " Well at least I SHOULD be home for New Years"
Personally I like it this way, if I'm hoping he'll be home for Christmas and he is not, then its a MAJOR let down, at least now I'm not counting on it , so if he does show up then it will be a great Christmas Present and I know that it will be the LAST year that he'll miss it.
I know this because he officially retires on April 1st, he'll "sail" only 3 months next season instead of 6.
Meanwhile I'm very happy I have that sweet little Grandchild peacefully sleeping in the next room and I look forward to seeing that smile on her face when I go pick her up.  Later today I will be blessed to see my Son, his wife and our Grandson too.  Yep, I'll be okay but I'm looking forward to that phone call he'll make to me as soon as he gets a chance.
